i woke up bright an early since i could hardly sleep from anticipation. you see, the night before, i was driving home from class and decided to stop by cvs to pick up a pregnancy test at 10pm at night.
i was one day late.
but i just knew.
i could harly sleep that night. i kept thinking i was being silly to test so soon, and i was trying not to get excited in case the test was negative.
so when morning came, i ran straight to the bathroom and peed on that stick.
and then i ran to the closet to hide...
i couldn't stand the wait.
so after what felt like 10 miutes of waiting (and hiding), i crept back into the bathroom, and i peeked around the corner. i had prepared myself for only one pink line, since i didn't want to get my hopes up. but when i finally picked it up to take a look, my heart completely stopped.
there it was...that glorious second pink line. i just sat on my bathroom floor staring at those two tiny pink lines. two tiny pink lines that would completely change my life. two tiny pink lines that meant I was pregnant.
in all my life, i have never felt such a wild range of emotions, one of those being disbelief. so you know what I did?? i carried that stick around with me the entire day so i could stare at it whenever i felt i needed another peek. yep, i never thought a stick with pee on it would mean so much to me.
so at work that day, i made a little card for ryan (out of copy paper and highlighters) to put with a pack of diapers i picked up at lunch so i could share the news.
i know it's not the prettiest card, but it served its purpose. i handed it to him with the diapers when he got home from work, and he was in complete shock. i mean, complete shock.
i was only off the pill for less than a month. i know there was no way he thought it would happen so soon. but the shock wore off, and now he tells everybody he just has super sperm. romantic, right?
but for that whole week before we could see the doctor, he bought 3 boxes of tests just for his own piece of mind. he made me take them every single day up until the appointment just to make sure. ha!
but secretly, i didn't mind. i actually loved seeing the positive results every time. see below for proof:
and now that we have heard the heartbeat twice, and seen the baby through sonogram, we have both completely turned into mush over this little baby. we are beyond thrilled, and we feel so blessed to have the opprtunity to experience pregnancy and parenthood. and now that i have turned into a mushy mommy, i will leave you with this quote that makes me tear up every time i read it:
Before you were conceived I wanted you
Before you were born I loved you
Before you were here I would die for you
This is the miracle of life.
